FRICCIONES

ENCUENTRO INTERNACIONAL DE INTERCAMBIOS DE APRENDIZAJE

Fricciones is a horizontal event, which aims to generate discussions apart from those that occur within the hierarchical protocols that currently dominate obsolete academic structures. We devise friction as the force that arises from the unexpected encounter between dissimilar bodies and discourses. We assume friction is an uncomfortable and uneasy situation, necessary for the encouragement of questioning and the generation of changes that promote innovations within learning processes. Fricciones is friction that provokes the spark that arises from real encounters; from listening; from openness to otherness; from a conversation among peers; from the reciprocal exchange.

Social and ecological developments around the world, exacerbated by a global health crisis, have exposed the vulnerability of many trusted human systems. The various corporealities that affect people’s lived experiences have increasingly shifted to the forefront of global discourse and have asserted the vast plurality of our human conditions. A recalibration of what we recognize as “humanity” has never been more urgent. By focusing on architecture by and for people from various vulnerable groups in the expository format and accompanying program, the biennale will become a space for encounters and dialogue between people from different spheres of life. In synthesis, we propose to initiate a process of reconstruction of dialogues that will perhaps allow reconfiguring a society with another way of perceiving conditions.

Why am I defending the project in front of professors who speak the same academic elite language as me? Instead of defending it at University, I put it on an exhibition. I opened the main door to the reading room that had been closed for many years. Models, books, photographs, interviews and animations of the original project and my design were articulated in that large space bathed by smoke of different colors, which tried to lead —phenomenologically— visitors to the idea of the new library “the cloud”. The curatorial project by Emilio Nisivoccia, Mary Méndez, and Martín Craciun proposes to go through 5 works chosen from among the best known by the author. 5 works read under a particular slant that stops his gaze on the domestic character of the work, the phenomenological component of the spaces, and some edges, more or less visible, of the black box where Flores's architecture was forged.

Is an exhibition organized by YAFU (YOUNG ARCHITECTS FROM URUGUAY) at the Punta del Este CCD, which explores the relationship between image and materiality in a generation of young architects. Through the dialogue between a series of images (real or imagined) and a collection of objects (materials and prototypes), the exhibition illustrates our way of conceiving the construction of spaces.

MICELIX it is an ASSEMBLAGE EXPERIENCE. A series of actions centered around the mycelium fungus, its cultivation, observation, and study. By viewing the mycelium as a NETWORKED organism, the proposal aims to create an immersive experience, to HIGHLIGHT the community balance between human and non-human agents, from an anthropo-decentered perspective.
